Landmark Trees Driving Tour, 11-16-2025 (10 miles)

TreeDrivingMap Our Newsletter Editor, Terri Stackhouse, has designed an interesting route around Folsom to view many of our impressive historic trees by car (or bike, if you prefer!). According to the City, "the Landmark Tree Registry recognizes particularly noteworthy specimens within the City that contribute to Folsom’s character and Distinctive by Nature adage." The route begins at 409 Coloma St., and heads out on a counter-clockwise loop to visit eight sites, all with trees remarkable for their appearance and age. For example, see the magnificent, over 300 year-old Bergst Tree, a valley oak at Map Marker #8 in East Prewett Park!

Explore the Johnny Cash Trail with Parishay

Parishay Azer, a High School Senior and STEM Enthusiast, developed this interesting app which allows the user to identify natural elements like plants and animals and other points of interest in a geographic area. In this case, it is focused on Folsom's Johnny Cash Trail. The app is designed to be used on or near the trail itself. To find the trail and use the app, click here: BEGIN EXPLORING!

(Acknowledgments are due to Kritika Bala for inspiration, to Glenn Hermanson for facilitation, and, of course, to Parishay Azer for completion of this project!)

Folsom "Easy Riders," 3-22-16 (20 miles)

Easy Riders Bike Ride We really enjoyed this short, scenic biking loop using a combination of Folsom trails, streets, and the American River Bike Trail. The route begins at La Bou at Blue Ravine and Folsom Blvd., and takes you along the Humbug-Willow Creek Trail through the Parkway, the new Johnny Cash Trail, Folsom Lake Crossing, the American River, Historic Folsom, and the Willow Creek Recreation Area.
The route was designed by Ruth and Steve Anderson for a Sacramento Bike Hikers ride. Click below for route sheet and maps:
